If you want to make beads but don't want to use clay, you can also make them out of paper. If you cut paper into long, thin triangles, and cover the back with glue, preferably a glue stick, you can wrap the paper, starting at the wide end, around a toothpick. When you finish wrapping the paper, cover it in modge podge and let it dry. Put as many coats on as you like. You can use scrap paper, junk mail, scrapbook paper. If you experiment with the shape of the paper you are wrapping you will get different finished shapes.
