Science

In the world we live in, science is a part of everyday life. How we breathe, where we walk, and what we eat is all a form of science, though scientists may argue that they are responsible for even greater feats. There are many types of science categories and it is important to break them all down to understand what a person needs to learn. There are such categories as oceanography, life science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, zoology and countless others.

Science Careers

A career in science does not necessarily mean testing chemicals in a laboratory all day. This example, that of a chemist, is just one possibility in a long list of science career options. Science affects almost every part of life. It is what produces healthy and sufficient food for people around the world. It is what creates pacemakers and new medicines for the healthcare industry. It is what gives people clean water, sweetly scented perfumes and maps of the stars.

R/C Airplanes

R/C airplanes, otherwise known as remote control airplanes, are a great hobby. While people have been entertained by remote control vehicles for years, planes offer a higher level of control simply because they are airborne. Many people choose kits where they can build every feature of the plane on their own – and then take it to the air. The sizes vary and as the plane grows in size, it requires a more significant amount of skill simply because a person must keep it in the air and know how to maneuver it for takeoff as well is landing.

Media

Media careers are everywhere. Since media is comprised of a variety of categories, it is necessary to define what form of media a person wants to be involved in. Print media can be newspapers and magazines, televised media includes TV and movies, while online media encompasses blogs, websites, social media and more. A person can have a career in media as the writer, the producer, the publisher and various other positions. As a result of these choices, a person must fully understand the media industry and home in on what it is they want to do.

Math

Math is everywhere. Counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing are done on a daily basis by people around the world – even if they are not conscious about it. Depending upon the profession that a person is in, math may also be used in a more complicated form – such as algebra, calculus and trigonometry. Learning how to solve math problems is a skill that everyone needs in order to be successful. Math is used on the job, to manage a personal checking account, and even to count the quantities of various items in the home or in the office.

Manufacturing

Choosing a manufacturing career allows an individual a wide array of possible jobs. A basic definition of manufacturing is any job that creates a new product, typically by the combination of other single products. For example, computers, cars, clothing, couches and cupcakes are all manufactured products. Many people work in factories or mills to do this type of work. However, with the wide range of products that are manufactured today, many people work in smaller buildings and even in homes. It is not necessary to have a college education in this career.

Law Enforcement Careers

Thanks to advances in technology and the need for protection in various communities, law enforcement careers are more prevalent and rewarding than ever. Some type of training is involved for any career in law enforcement. The amount of training and experience required depends on the specific job. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, some of the most popular law enforcement careers in terms of demand include:

• Police officer
• FBI agent
• Marshal
• Forensic scientist
• Customs agent

Education

Languages

Many people want to learn a foreign language in order to be able to communicate with people from other countries or to travel to these foreign countries. A language barrier can be a very frustrating thing to overcome. When a person understands the language of the people they are surrounded with, it is easier to have confidence to ask for directions, order from a menu at a restaurant, and carry on a conversation to stay entertained.

Information Technology

Information technology (IT) careers can be found in any business that either uses computers on a regular basis or provides service to homes and businesses using computers and other similar technology. This is why, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, IT careers are considered evergreen since there is always a need to keep data safe and computer systems working. With nearly 2 million people working within the information technology industry, the demand for IT jobs has created a wide selection of rewarding, high-paying careers with plenty of room for advancement.

Houseplants

Houseplants are great choices for several reasons. First, they obviously provide a beautiful view. A gorgeous houseplant can help in relaxation and in alleviating stress. In fact, houseplants can even decrease fatigue. Second, houseplants purify the air. In a process known as photosynthesis, plants take carbon dioxide, a waste product of breathing, and replace it with oxygen. In addition, houseplants can decrease toxins that are in the air, making it easier to breathe whether or not one has respiratory problems. This makes plants quite helpful in sleeping areas.
